This preliminary version of the website, besides being almost entirely functional, was uploaded because my old host dropped the PHP Megastructure site. Thank you Singapore (sincerely), it was nice while it lasted.

The new host is OCS Solutions, which I chose because of their Rails support and good reviews.

This Rails-based site brings a number of new features:

Any [registered] user can upload gallery images and blog entries. These entries become an integral part of the site, and your work shows up on the front page.
Users can create “sequences”, which group posts and gallery items in a series. A post can belong to many sequences.
A totally new look, designed by Chen’s mad CSS skills.
Most importantly, a new philosophy — artists and thinkers, poets and dreamers, webcomics and writers, all united under one common theme, contributing to the most comprehensive Megastructure resource on the interweb.

Please join us, and together we will build something truly unique.

megastructure.org - updated again

As you can see, megastructure.org has been updated again, bringing it at least into the beginning of the 21st century. I’m sure there are a few more kinks to stomp out, but overall I’m pleased with the design. A number of bugs were fixed in the process, which should make megastructure.org more accessible and less frustrating.

If you are a photographer, you may be interested in the Exploring the Megastructure group on flickr. The pool is steadily growing in size, and contributions of real-life megastructure findings is greatly appreciated.

Also, a blog has been launched, in order to document separately the development of a computer-based Megastructure “experience”, the blueprints of which still haunt me.
